Artist Statement
Personal experience and memories play a part in all my work.
My often masked self-portraits are playful tableaus merely hinting at a hidden narrative: Visually pleasing yet somewhat uncanny.
Sleep and the dreams that come with it have been a particular focus in Dark Territory and Of A Night but I am also fascinated by other altered states of consciousness such as hypnagogia, depersonalization ( This Skin) and trance states.
For mask-making I mainly use mod-rock, clay and papier-mâché.
